Asked for a courtyard room and got one. Bed was excellent, desk was a real desk, and the shower is the best I’ve had in a London hotel. Breakfast was quick and the staff remembered my coffee on the second morning.

We were upgraded to a view room for our anniversary without asking and there was a card and a half bottle of English fizz waiting. Dinner in Pike Garden was the highlight: the fish pie for two is huge. Walked to the Globe and back.

The Snug is small, as the website says. For one person it was perfect. A little street noise from Sumner Street early in the morning; ask for the courtyard side.

Gift voucher from my son. Staff were kind to my daughter, who uses a wheelchair, and the accessible room was genuinely well designed. Tate Modern is literally round the corner.

I usually stay at one of the big brands near Southwark tube. This was more personal and the rooms are nicer. I missed having an executive lounge, but the bar is a good place to work in the afternoon. Wi-Fi was fast enough for video calls.

Not a hotel guest, came for the spa evening with my sister. The Undercroft is small (no pool) but very calm and the therapists were excellent.

Tideway 1+2 for two days, rooms for 18, dinner in The Loft. The events team were organised and nothing was a problem. Day delegate rate included decent coffee, which matters more than people think. We will be back in spring.

Corner windows, a copper bath and enough space for my husband and me not to get in each other’s way. Pressed shirts on day one was a nice touch. We ate in Pike Garden twice and had treatments in the spa.

Room was great. Breakfast on Sunday was busy and we waited 25 minutes for eggs. Staff apologised and took the coffees off the bill.

Everything is designed with care: the radio, the books, the Kent apple juice. The Wherry does a properly good martini.

Pre-theatre menu was good value and they got us out in time. Room was spotless. Would be five stars if the room had a bath.

Easy walk to London Bridge and Blackfriars. Gym is small but has what you need. Check-in was fast.

We came for a board meeting and stayed for the food. The tasting menu with matched wines was as good as places with stars. The spa therapist recommended a facial that did wonders.

We booked the Snug for two people and it was too tight with two suitcases. Should have read the description properly. Staff offered an upgrade at a price but we stayed put.

Breakfast on the terrace looking at St Paul’s. Enough said.

Friendly, quiet, honest prices at the bar and the minibar. I travel to London every month and I will be back.
