Terms of booking

Last updated 1 April 2026

These terms apply to rooms booked with The Ferrier (“we”), 41 Sumner Street, London SE1 9LA, on this website, by phone or by email. Group bookings of nine rooms or more and events are covered by a separate group agreement.

1. Your booking

A booking request becomes a contract when we email you a confirmation number after your card has been guaranteed or charged. Prices are per room per night in pounds sterling and include VAT at the prevailing rate (currently 20%). If VAT changes before your stay, the price changes with it.

2. Payment

Flexible rates are guaranteed by card and paid at check-out. Advance rates are charged in full when we confirm the booking. At check-in we pre-authorise an amount for incidentals as described in our booking policies.

3. Cancellation by you

Flexible rates may be cancelled free of charge until 15:00 UK time on the day before arrival; after that, and for no-shows, we charge the first night. Advance rates are non-refundable and can’t be changed. Because hotel bookings are for a specific date, the statutory 14-day cancellation right for distance contracts does not apply.

4. Cancellation by us

If we have to cancel your booking (for example because of a flood or a fire), we refund everything you have paid and help you find a comparable room nearby. We are not liable for other costs except where the law says otherwise.

5. During your stay

Rooms are available from 15:00 on arrival and must be vacated by 12:00 on departure. We may charge for damage beyond normal wear and for the deep-clean fee where someone has smoked in a room. We may ask anyone who puts staff or guests at risk to leave, without refund.

6. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud. Our liability for guests’ property is limited as set out in the Hotel Proprietors Act 1956, except where we have been negligent. Valuables can be left in the room safe or with reception.

7. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you have a complaint, see our complaints procedure.
